Thank you for your interest in our Homestay Program.  In the Sooke International Student Program, we are committed to supporting diversity and inclusion.  We believe that diversity enriches our communities and broadens perspectives.  Fostering mutual understanding among students, school district staff and families from different backgrounds is a fundamental goal of our program. Our commitment to inclusion means creating a welcoming space where every individual, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, culture, religion, socioeconomic status, gender identity, or sexual orientation, feels respected, valued, and experiences a sense of belonging.

What we require of Homestay Parents

Homestay settings must offer students:

• a clean, safe and well organized living environment
• a private bedroom (with a window), which includes a comfortable bed, study table, dresser, closet and lamp,
• Wifi access

Homestay parents must offer students:

• three substantial meals a day and nutritious snacks,
• help with reasonable transportation requests, if required,
• Airport or ferry pick up upon arrival and drop off at departure,
• opportunities to participate in family activities,
• support for student interest in cultural, athletic and community activities,
• the guidance and support reasonable to expect of adults who are assuming responsibility for the care of a young person who is far from their own family.

The current homestay honorarium is based on $1200.00/month.
