Application Instructions - West Vancouver Schools
West Vancouver Schools will only accept complete applications using our secure online application system. Mailed, emailed, or faxed applications are no longer accepted. Incomplete or unpaid applications will not be processed.

1. Before You Start
West Vancouver Schools only accepts complete applications submitted through our secure online application system. Incomplete or unpaid applications will not be processed.
September intake: Applications open at 12:00 AM (Vancouver time) on October 15 of the previous year.
For example, September 2026 applications become available at midnight on October 15, 2025.
February intake: Applications open at 12:00 AM (Vancouver time) on February 2 of the preceding year.
For example, February 2027 applications become available at midnight on February 2, 2026.
You must complete and submit your application within 30 days of starting. Unsubmitted applications will be deleted automatically.
The non-refundable application fee is $300 CAD. Please use FlyWire to complete payment.
2. Documents and Information You Need
Before starting, please collect the following information and documents.
All files must be in PDF or JPEG format and under 5MB.
You will need complete details for the student and at least one parent, including names, birthdates, and addresses.
2.1 Required Documents
- Transcripts or report cards (past 2 years), translated into English. Upload as a single PDF or JPEG file under 5MB.
- Passport photo page of the applicant (if available).
- English Language Exam (Grade 10 or 11 students who want to graduate from West Vancouver Schools only): If needed, contact Michael Frankowski at mfrankowski@wvschools.ca to take the CMGE test online ($100 CAD).
- Signed Legal Agreement: Download the West Vancouver Schools International Student Legal Agreement. Have it signed in ink and scanned before uploading.
2.2 Recommended Documents
- Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, counsellor, or school principal on school letterhead.
- Immunization records or completed local health authority form (optional but recommended).
- Custodian Document: Required if the student is not using the school’s homestay and custodianship service. The custodian must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, over 25, and living full-time in the Vancouver area.
- Photo Album: Optional for homestay placement. Upload as a single document.
- Any other relevant documents (e.g., student interview form). Upload each as a single file.
3. Privacy and Technology Use
Information collected is used to support educational programs, communicate with families, and meet legal obligations. This is done under the authority of the BC School Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). Contact international.reception@wvschools.ca if you have any questions about privacy.
Students in Grades 4–12 will receive a secure G Suite for Education account. This includes tools like Google Drive, Docs, Classroom, and Gmail. The school district controls and monitors all use. No advertising or data mining is allowed.
By consenting to a G Suite account, families understand that data may be stored outside of Canada (in the USA) for educational purposes. Families must agree to the Acceptable Use Guidelines provided by West Vancouver Schools.
