Application Instructions - Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board
Welcome to the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board’s International Student Program!
To facilitate your application process, please take note of the following:
- Students must duly complete and sign all required fields, as well as upload all required documents within this application in order to avoid delays in the process.
- As a second step, students will receive a confirmation of receipt email and an invoice will be generated on the student's file on My True North in order to pay the application fee.
- When this is received, please log into your My True North account in order to make the payment through Flywire.
*Note: When on the Flywire platform, you may leave the invoice # field blank.
We will only verify a student’s eligibility and documents once the payment has been received.
Please allow a minimum of 5-7 business days for processing.
- Upon receipt of the payment and verification of eligibility, we will then send a detailed Invoice and Letter of Acceptance. With this letter, the student can apply for any/all of the applicable permits: CAQ, Study Permit, and COOP Work Permit (if applicable).
NOTES
- Start/end dates for vocational programs are tentative and could vary. The school board reserves the right to cancel or delay the start date of a program if there is a lack of space or insufficient registration to start a cohort.
- In order for students in the youth sector to receive any official transcripts (if applicable), they must hold immigration permits that are valid for the entire length of their studies (Visa and CAQ). This is required to apply for a Quebec permanent code which is necessary to receive any official transcripts in the province of Quebec. Please note that short stays are usually considered cultural only and even with valid documentation, we cannot guarantee that marks will be awarded for all subjects taken.
- It is strongly recommended to submit applications at least 4-6 months prior to the start date of the program to ensure having enough time to apply for the necessary immigration permits (CAQ, Study Permit and COOP Work Permit, if applicable).
- It is strongly recommended to arrive in Canada at least 1-2 weeks prior to the beginning of the program in order to finalize the registration process in a timely manner. Students will not be able to start without their original documents and permits.
- Health insurance is a legal requirement for any international student studying in the province of Quebec. The International Students Program, through their designated insurance provider (INGLE international) will provide this service. Our insurance has a very competitive rate and excellent coverage. This fee is mandatory for all students and the cost of the insurance will be added to the student’s invoice.
Thank you for choosing the International Student Program of Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board.
