Application Instructions - Rocky Mountain International Student Program

Before you begin

 

Rocky Mountain International Student Program (RMISP) will only accept complete applications using our secure online application system. Mailed, emailed, or faxed applications are no longer accepted. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

 

Before you begin the online application process, please make sure you have collected all the necessary information and documents. You will need the applicant’s complete information and at least one parent’s complete information. This includes names, birthdates, addresses, etc. Required and recommended documents (see below) must be submitted as PDF or JPEG files only and less than 5MB each. If any document is larger than 5MB, it has been scanned at too high a resolution and must be rescanned at a lower resolution before beginning the application process.

 

The application fee is $500 CAD and is non-refundable. 

 

Required documents

 

In order to submit an application, the following documents listed below are required. If you do not upload these documents into the online application system, you cannot complete the application process.

  1. Program forms: Before starting the application process, please download the Student Application Forms (including the Student Participation Agreement, ski and snowboard contract, and course preference form)
    1. The student AND natural parents must sign the Student Participation Agreement and ski and snowboard contract.
    2. These three documents must be submitted as single documents in PDF or JPEG files only and less than 5MB each.
  2. Transcripts or report cards: We must have a record of grades for the last two years (translated into English). They must be in PDF or JPEG files only, and less than 5MB in size. You will only able to upload one document, so please ensure all pages of the records of grades are scanned as a single document.
  3. Student's passport photo page: Please scan the passport photo page of the applicant’s passport. The BC Ministry of Education accepts only passports for school registration. Identification cards are not accepted.
  4. Teacher recommendation: Please have a teacher (English teacher preferred) or administrator provide a letter of recommendation for the applicant. This letter must be on school letterhead, identify the student, the number of years he/she has known the applicant (minimum 1 year) provide information regarding the student's attitude toward school, identify learning challenges/support needs and social behaviour with classmates. If this letter is longer than one page, make sure you scan all pages as a single document.
  5. Student’s letter to the host family: This letter has to be typed (not handwritten) explaining the student's reasons for wanting to come to Canada and study in the Rocky Mountains. It should outline the student's past studies, interests/hobbies, membership in clubs and organizations (if applicable), future goals, etc.
  6. Photo album: Please add several photos showing the student with his/her family and friends, engaging in his/her hobbies/clubs/organizations and other interests. Please make sure you scan all pages as a single document.
  7. Immunization (vaccination) records: Please include any additional medical information and scan as a single document. If this letter is longer than one page, make sure you scan all pages as a single document.
  8. High-Risk Waiver Form: Please ensure that BOTH parents only initial the high-risk activities that they are comfortable with and that BOTH parents sign. Agents need to sign the document as well.
  9. Other relevant documents: If you have other relevant document pertinent to admission, such as a student interview form, please submit it as a single document.
