Application Instructions - Riverside School Board
Seats in RSB International Student Education Program are limited. Please note that seats for students intending to graduate in Québec (staying for 2+ years) are limited to September entry only.
Before you begin
RSB International Student Education program will only accept complete applications using our secure online application system. Mailed, emailed, or faxed applications are no longer accepted.
Incomplete or unpaid applications will not be processed.
Please make sure you have collected all the necessary information and documents before you begin your application. Required and recommended documents (see below) must be submitted as PDF or JPEG files only and less than 5MB each. If any document is larger than 5MB, it has been scanned at too high a resolution and must be rescanned at a lower resolution before beginning the application process.
For High School Applicants, you will need:
- the applicant’s complete information of both parent’s this includes names, birthdates, addresses, etc, if one of them are deceased or unknown please mark accordingly.
For Vocational & Adult Continuing Education you will need:

Admission Requirements:

Be at least sixteen (16) years of age on September 30 of the school year in which your training is to begin.

High School Diploma (Equivalent to Québec's Secondary 5 or Grade 11).

The English languages proficiency.
For Health, Assistance, and Nursing, students must meet the prerequisit of having obtained Secondary IV and V language of instruction and Secondary IV second language. For all other vocational programs, student's level of English must be equal to IELTS 5.5 to be admitted in a program. Otherwise, he/she will have to take English classes prior to or in conjunction with, his/her program.

- Medical Insurance coverage for the duration of your studies
Visa Process:
This important stage can be done either by yourself or by an Immigration Lawyer (or an ICCRC Member). For the CAQ, you can request the services of RSB International Students Department. We can submit an application on your behalf. Additional fees apply.
Certificate of Acceptance of Québec (CAQ): Required
Study Permit: Required
Co-op Work Permit: Required for some programs. Refer to your letter of acceptance.

Once an application has been successfully submited, you will received an Acknowledgement Email. Upon receipt of this email, a $220 non-refundable application fee must be payed in order to open your file and start your application process. Applicants will have the option of also paying a 1000$ tuition deposit at that time or upon receipt of a Conditional Letter of Acceptance (if accepted into a program). Note that all wire transfer have an additional fee of $15.00CAD.

Additional Details of Required documents for both Youth and Adult Sectors
In order to submit an application, the documents listed below are required. If you do not upload these documents into the online application system, you cannot complete the application process. If you do not submit a complete application within ten (10) days, the partial application will be automatically deleted.
- Legible copy of Birth Certificate translated into English or French and notarized.
- (Elementary and High School) Legible copy of Parents and Custodianship's Identification document such a passport photo page, or similar with a photo.
- (Elementary and High School) Legal Agreement. Parent(s) (if student is under 18) and student must sign our agreement. You will find the document at "Section 10" of your on-line application, please download the Legal Agreement, have it signed in ink, and scanned as a PDF or JPEG file only.
- (Vocational and Adult Continuing Education) Student Contract. Parent(s) (if student is under 18) and student must sign our agreement. You will find the document at "Section 9" of your on-line application, please download the Student Contract, print your name and sign where indicated, and scanned as a PDF or JPEG file only.
- Transcripts or report cards. You must have a record of grades for the last year, translated into English or French, they must be in PDF or JPEG files only, and less than 5MB in size. You will only able to upload one document, so please ensure all pages of the records of grades are scanned as a single document.
Recommended documents
We recommend that you collect the following documents prior to applying. These documents assist us in making an admission decision should we require additional information. They must be submitted as single documents in PDF or JPEG files only and less than 5MB each.
- Student’s letter of intent. This letter is written by the student explaining their desire to come to Canada and study Riverside School Board. It should outline their past studies, their interests and hobbies, and their future goals. If this letter is longer than one page, make sure you scan all pages as a single document.
- Immunization records. Please scan as a single document all immunization records relevant to the students medical history. If this letter is longer than one page, make sure you scan all pages as a single document.
- Custodian document. If the applicant will not be part of our homestay program, The parents must assign a custodian. This custodian must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, over 25 years old, and must live full time in the Montreal area.
- Photo albums. Some students compile a photo album for our homestay placement process. Please scan a maximum of five photos as one document.
- Other documents. If you have another document pertinent to admission, such as a student interview form, please submit it as a single document.
