Application Instructions - Niagara Catholic District School Board

Please read before you begin:

 

The Niagara Catholic District School Board will only accept complete applications using our secure online application system. Mailed, emailed, or faxed applications are no longer accepted. Incomplete or unpaid applications will not be processed.

 

Before you begin the online application process, please make sure you have collected all of the necessary information and documents. You will need the applicant’s complete information and at least one parent’s complete information. This includes names, birthdates, addresses, etc. Required and recommended documents (see below) must be submitted as PDF or JPEG files only and less than 15MB each. If any document is larger than 15MB, it has been scanned at too high a resolution and must be rescanned at a lower resolution before beginning the application process.

 

The application fee is $400 CAD and is nonrefundable. 

 

ADMISSION DOCUMENTS:

 

Please have the following documents ready to upload during the application process: 

  1. Legal agreements. The parent(s) of the applicant must sign our agreement. Before starting the application process, please download the 3 documents (Refund Policy, Terms of Admission and Consent Form), have it signed in ink, and scanned as a PDF or JPEG file only.
  2. Transcripts or report cards. You must have a record of grades for the last two years, translated into English, they must be in PDF or JPEG files only, and less than 15MB in size. You will only able to upload one document, so please ensure all pages of the records of grades are scanned as a single document.
  3. Passport photo page. Please scan the passport photo page of the applicant’s passport, if they have a passport already. This allows us to double-check the applicant’s information to ensure that all correspondence is correct. If current passport is expired, please still send it for ID purposes. The student will need a new
  4. Letter of Recommendation. Please have a teacher, school counsellor, or Headmaster/Principal write a letter of recommendation for the applicant. This letter should be on school letterhead and identify the student and their strong points. If this letter is longer than one page, make sure you scan all pages as a single document.
  5. Student’s letter of intent. This letter is written by the student explaining their desire to come to Canada and study in Sandbox School District. It should outline their past studies, their interests and hobbies, and their future goals. If this letter is longer than one page, make sure you scan all pages as a single document.
  6. Immunization records. Please scan as a single document all immunization records relevant to the students medical history. If this letter is longer than one page, make sure you scan all pages as a single document. Immunizations against mumps, measles, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus and polio.
  7. Custodian document. If the applicant will not be using our homestay provider, they must assign a custodian. This custodian must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, over 25 years old, and must live full time in the Niagara area. This document must be notarized.
  8. Photo albums. Some students compile a photo album for our homestay placement process. Please scan the entire album as one document. This is not required.

Please note that these documents are required upon registration. However we will request the below documents to be sent to us before the students start of program. The documents we will require are:

  1. Medical Insurance. If you are NOT using our Homestay provider, it is up to the student to have adequate medical insurance that is valid in Canada and is effective for the entire duration of their program.
  2. Passport Entry Stamp. Upon arrival into Canada, we will require a scan or image of the stamp that shows entry date into Canada that will be in the students passport. If their passport was not stamped at the border, then a flight ticket or boarding pass will be requested.
  3. Study Permit/Visitor's Record. Upon arrival, we will require a scan or image of the students Study Permit/Visitor Record that should be valid for the full duration of their program.
