Application Instructions - Louis Riel School Division

Effective immediately:

 

To align with Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada’s announcements regarding limited available housing for international students and newcomers, Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) will focus its international student admissions and enrolment on students who have pre-determined Winnipeg accommodation, including students who plan to live with friends and family already living in Winnipeg or students who apply to participate in Louis Riel School Division’s homestay program. Applications from students who plan to relocate with families who require housing in the LRSD catchment area will not be considered at this time.

 

ELEMENTARY (K-8) SCHOOLS ARE AT CAPACITY FOR THE 2024-2025 ACADEMIC YEAR. ELEMENTARY APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

 

POST-SECONDARY/ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS ARE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:

 

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: 

 

Louis Riel School Division will only accept complete applications using our secure online application system. Mailed, emailed, or faxed applications are no longer accepted. Incomplete or unpaid applications will not be processed.

 

Before you begin the online application process, please make sure you have collected all the necessary information and documents. You will need the applicant’s complete information and both parents' complete information (parents' information is not required for post-secondary students). This includes names, birthdates, addresses, etc. Required documents (see below) must be submitted as PDF or JPEG files only and less than 5MB each. If any document is larger than 5MB, it has been scanned at too high a resolution and must be rescanned at a lower resolution before beginning the application process.

 

The application fee is $250 CAD and is nonrefundable. 

 

A $1500 CAD deposit is required to issue a Letter of Acceptance. Students must pay full fees (per invoice) approximately 90 days prior to program start date.  Failure to pay fees may result in a withdrawal of the acceptance, including reporting to IRCC. 

 

International Student Program fees cover all expenses associated with a conventional school program. Please note that fees to not cover specialize electives and optional courses (i.e., guitar, art, some sports fees, etc), or extracurricular activities. Additional fees may also be required for lunch supervision. Yearbook fees are charged as an additional fee for those students wishing to order one.

 

 

In order to submit an application, the three documents listed below are required. If you do not upload these documents into the online application system, you cannot complete the application process. If you do not submit a complete application within twenty (20) days, the partial application will be automatically deleted.

 

K - 12 Required Documents 

 

  1. Record of grades (transcripts). You must have a record of grades for the last two years, translated into English.  They must be in PDF or JPEG files only, and less than 5MB in size. You may only upload one document, so please ensure all pages of the records of grades are scanned as a single document.
  2. Passport photo page. Please scan the passport photo page of the applicant’s passport. This allows us to double-check the applicant’s information to ensure that all correspondence is correct.
  3. Student/Parent/Agent Agreement for K-12 applications is found at the beginnig and end of this application and must be signed and submited by all and scanned and submitted with the application.

Post-Secondary Required Documents:

  1. Grade 12 transcripts and proof of high school graduation (translated into English).  They must be in PDF or JPEG files only, and less than 5MB in size. You will only able to upload one document, so please ensure all pages of the records of grades are scanned as a single document.

2. Passport photo page.

 

3. Academic IELTS overall score of 6.0, or equivalent test score (must not be older than one year)
