Application Instructions - Comox Valley Schools

Before you Begin

 

Collect all the necessary information and documents prior to beginning the application process. This includes all the required and optional documents to support the application, along with the full legal names, birthdates, and addresses, etc. of the applicant and their legal parents or guardians.  Documents uploaded to support an application must be in PDF or JPEG format and less than 5MB each.
     
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS   DOMESTIC APPLICANTS
     

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

 

The following four (4) documents listed below are required for all School Year (September-June) applications. Applications with missing or incomplete required documents will be rejected.

 

Passport or National Identity Document

A colour copy of the applicant’s passport credential page is required.  Students who do not hold a passport at the time of application will need to submit a colour copy of a National Identity Document that contains the applicants full legal name and date of birth.

 

Transcripts or Report Card

Provide a record of grades for the last two years, translated into English. Your transcript/report card must be a PDF or JPEG file, and less than 5MB. You will only be able to upload one document, so please ensure all pages of your transcript/report card are scanned as a single document.

 

Student Letter of Intent

Provide a letter written by the applicant that introduces themselves. The letter should include things they hope to experience or gain from their study abroad period; why they choose the Comox Valley School District International Student Program or why they want to study in Canada and include their current and future goals.

 

Student Agreement

The parent(s) and applicant must sign our Student Agreement. You will be prompted to download the Agreement during the application process through the secure online application system.

 

Activity Waiver

The Parent(s) must sign our Waiver. You will be prompted to download the Waiver during the application process through the secure online application system.

 

Immunization Record

All immunization information relevant to the student’s medical history must be recorded in the application Immunization section.  Missing or incomplete immunization recording will result in applications being rejected.

 

OPTIONAL DOCUMENTS

 

We recommend that you collect the following documents prior to applying to support your application. These documents can assist us in making an admission decision. They must be submitted as single documents in PDF or JPEG format and be less than 5MB each.

 

Letters of Reference

Have a teacher, school counsellor, or Principal write a letter of recommendation for the applicant. The recommendation letter should be on school letterhead, identify the student and his/her positive attributes.  This letter should be signed by the writer.

 

Photo Collage

A picture is worth a thousand words.  Applicants are welcome to include photos of themselves, family, friends, and activities to visually present themselves. This will assist in the homestay placement process.

 

Awards & Certificates

Upload any awards or certificates the applicant been awarded.

 

Other Documents

Any other document pertinent to admission, such as a student interview form, can be submit as as a single document to the application under the Additional Document field.
